The Madera Aquatic Team has recruited many new members this summer and they, along with veteran swimmers, competed at the Fresno Dolphins A/B Modified Long Course Invitational at the Central Unified School District swim complex in Fresno.
"We (sent) several first-time competitors to this meet and we are so proud of them," MAT president Trisha Jamieson said. "We are hopeful that many of them will stick with us through the fall and winter months."
Several swimmers earned ribbons at the meet, which was held on June 26 and 27.
Hayden Driggs, 8, took first in the 50-meter freestyle and the 100-meter freestyle in the 8-and-under group. He also placed 7th in the 50-meter backstroke, 6th in the 50-meter breast stroke and 4th in the 50-meter butterfly.
