A barbecue in Courthouse Park brings people together every year who work to preserve the history of Madera. And with the Weather Channel calling for a high of 98 degrees Sunday, it should be near perfect conditions for the Madera County Historical Society's annual Ice Cream Social.
"Everyone is welcome to come enjoy the music, sip iced tea and lemonade, munch on hot dogs, Polish dogs, cookies and ice cream sundaes," said Sheryl Berry, president of the historical society.
Every year the society celebrates summer with its ice cream social, the first Sunday in August. Shades of Grey will play in the gazebo.
"We keep track of the temperatures during the event," Berry said. "Last year it was 94 degrees and we had a really large crowd."
